1.      Why did you join the board at YWCP?

I joined the YWCP Board in the planning stages of the school, when I learned about it from co-founders Laura Rebell Gross and Brooke Stafford-Brizard.  Their excitement about the school and what it meant for the young women of Rochester was infectious.  I walked away feeling energized and excited too.  I knew right away that I wanted to be a part of bringing YWCP to life.

2.      What is one of your most memorable experiences at YWCP?

I have many.  The first memorable experience was the day that I walked into our first school building and saw the 7th grade students for the first time.  The school that I had seen on paper was now a reality.  It was awesome!  The next memorable experience was attending our first Leadership Breakfast.  Every year I look forward to this “feel-good” event that is filled with hope and joy.  The last memorable experience was attending Cool Women/Hot Jobs and seeing all of those professional women talking about their careers with our students who were fully engaged and inspired. The community support for YWCP is incredible and I am grateful that so many great women have chosen to participate in that event each year.

3.      What challenges does YWCP face?

I believe that one of the challenges we face today is finding the best school leader that we can for YWCP and its students.  I’m involved in the search for a new Principal and can tell you that those participating in the process take this very seriously.  We know that a strong school leader is key to YWCP’s future.

Thank you, Flor, for all you have done for the students of YWCP and for your leadership as we celebrate our first Senior class!
